Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning “continuous improvement.” It focuses on incremental changes for continual growth in a company. The small alterations happen over time rather than focusing on one significant alteration that occurs once in awhile and hopes for a drastic improvement. Kaizen says that human resources are the most important sector of a business. Additionally, an extreme change does not instill success as well as small alterations that are conductedcontinuously. Finally, Kaizen says that improvements have to be based on numbers and statistics developed from the processes in an organization.

Gemba is an additional Japanese word, which means “real place.” When talking of Gemba Kaizen, it is referring to the shop floor or wherever the work is taking place. It also handles reducing, finding, and eliminating any inconsistencies within an organizations.

Principles of Kaizen

To put Kaizen into place, a team has to be established that learn the principles of Kaizen and will observe the workplace. There are five essential points in Kaizen. Debt collectors could be dealing with tougher rules on their ability to collect money if bills proposed by the governor and New York state Assembly ever get passed by the state Senate. Before the state Senate went into a eventual dead end, the state Assembly passed a series of laws steered at cutting down on debt collector abuses that include threatening phone calls, harassment and intimidation. In addition, Gov. David Paterson has proposed similar measures to protect the public from abusive consumer debt collection practices.

The proposals would lay foundation for the Consumer Credit Fairness Act, which would decrease the current statute of limitations on personal debt from six to three years and would disallow debt collectors from reclaiming debts that exceed the statute of limitations. It would also require debt collection firms to serve consumers with a written Debtors Bill of Rights that details the manner in which a debt collection company can recover debt and informs customers of common dishonest practices.  Read more...

You would have to be living on Mars if you don’t know that we’re in the worst financial crisis in our lifetimes in America. If you find yourself worried about your business and what can happen next, you’re certainly not alone.

As I write this, the next few days bring great uncertainty about what the government is going to do to try and help bail out the failed banking system in the US. While it’s not clear what form the assistance will take, it appears almost certain that the US government will have to do something to fix the mess created in the financial system by rampant greed. “What’s going to happen?” you ask, Who knows!
